Application Process Begins for ARS of Eastern USA Scholarships

The Armenian Relief Society of Eastern USA is now accepting applications to its annual Undergraduate and Graduate Lazarian Scholarship program. Applications deadline are April 1, 2017.

Scholarship grants are awarded based on a combination of financial need, merit, and involvement in the Armenian community. All three areas should be addressed in the application. Each application is only valid for one year, but students who have received a grant may apply for a second one. Applications are not automatically renewed and an individual may only be granted a maximum of two scholarships.

Requirements for eligibility are that the applicant must be of Armenian descent and must have already completed at least one college semester at an accredited institution in the United States. The application form must be accompanied by financial aid information, an official transcript, and letters of recommendation. Grant applications are being accepted from prospective candidates of the Virginia D. Bandazian Scholarship Fund for 2017. Her children established the Fund after the 1997 passing of Virginia D. Bandazian. The Goal of this Fund is for the education of Armenian Women whose legal residence is in the Communities of Virginia, Maryland and/or Washington, DC area.

The scholarship is an open grant awarded to full-time undergraduate or graduate female students of Armenian descent on the basis of merit and need, attending an accredited university or college in the United States of America. At least two letters of recommendation must be received from Armenian Organizations and/or Armenian Community Leaders or Parish Priest of the Virginia, Maryland and/or Washington, DC area verifying the involvement of the applicant in Armenian activities and good standing.
